A 30-year veteran of professional and college sports, Michael Waddell comes to the AAF after serving the past two years as Vice President at Richmond Raceway (ISC). There, he had oversight of Consumer Marketing, Ticket Sales, Guest Services, Strategic Communications, Media Buying/Placement and Digital/Creative Services, and served as the track’s liaison with the NASCAR Diversity Program.
Prior to joining the Richmond Raceway Team, Waddell worked in college athletics for 28 years, first starting off as a radio and television broadcaster with the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and continuing in similar roles at the University of Virginia, Appalachian State University and the U.S Military Academy. Spending much of his time at Towson University in Baltimore, Waddell oversaw the construction of a new $62M multi-purpose SECU Arena and negotiated the 10 year, $4.75M naming rights deal. He also has worked in Executive Athletic Leadership positions at the University of Illinois, University of Arkansas, University of Cincinnati and the University of Akron. Waddell attended Guilford College in Greensboro, North Carolina and continued his education at Ohio University where he earned his master’s in Sport Administration in 2010.
