Jon "JP" Peterson, a dedicated and passionate leader, serves as the Park President of SeaWorld Orlando. With a career spanning over three decades in the United Parks & Resort (formally SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment) family, JP’s journey reflects his lifelong love for animals and the water.

 

Growing up surrounded by boats and wildlife, JP developed a deep connection to nature that guided his professional aspirations. He began his career at SeaWorld Ohio in 1992, working in operations, where his enthusiasm for marine life and dedication to guest experiences became evident. In 1993, JP followed his passion to become an animal trainer, marking the start of a fulfilling career focused on the care, conservation, and education of marine life.

 

In 1997, JP transitioned to SeaWorld Orlando, where he continued to rise through the ranks. His extensive knowledge, hands-on experience, and commitment to excellence culminated in his appointment as Vice President of Zoological Operations. In this role, he oversaw the park’s groundbreaking animal care initiatives, conservation efforts, and rescue programs, earning the respect of colleagues and the admiration of the global zoological community.

 

In 2023, JP was named Park President of SeaWorld Orlando, where he now leads with a vision rooted in innovation, sustainability, and world-class guest experiences. Under his leadership, the park continues to set the standard for marine animal care, education, and entertainment.

 

Outside of his professional endeavors, JP is a devoted family man. He lives in Central Florida with his wife and their two young sons, sharing his love for the outdoors and marine life with his family.
