Monster Jam World Finals® XX Honored as a 2019 Champion of Economic Impact in Sports Tourism

ELLENTON, Fla. (November 7, 2019) – Sports Destination Management, the leading publication with the largest circulation of sports event planners and tournament directors in the sports tourism market, has announced the 2019 Champions of Economic Impact in Sports Tourism. Monster Jam World Finals® was highlighted as one of the large-market champions with the likes of 2019 NCAA Men’s Final Four® and the TCS New York City Marathon. This year’s winners are responsible for contributing more than $1 billion to the national economy over the past year.

Monster Jam World Finals took place on May 10-11, 2019, at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, FL. Feld Entertainment worked closely with the Greater Orlando Sports Commission to bring the family-friendly event to life in a city that is not only a premier sports destination, but synonymous with family entertainment. The unexpected, unscripted, and larger-than-life event brought in more than 100,000 spectators from 47 states and four countries. The estimated overall economic impact of the flagship event was $40,000,000, with more than 53,000 total room nights. At this thrilling marque event, fans watched in awe as more than 35 world-class athletes competed for 7 Monster Jam World Finals championships. On May 11th, Monster Jam athlete Colton Eichelberger set a Guinness World Record by jumping seven Monster Jam trucks during the encore, traveling a total of 144 ft. Camping World Stadium was also home to the two-day Pit Party, where fans could get an up-close look at their favorite Monster Jam® trucks and interact with 70 Monster Jam athletes. Fans also had the opportunity to attend the 2019 Monster Jam Awards Ceremony, held at the Hard Rock Live Orlando.

“On behalf of Orange County, Orlando Venues and the Florida Sports Foundation, we are delighted that our partners at Feld Entertainment and one of their signature events, Monster Jam World Finals XX, has been recognized by Sports Destination Management as a 2019 Champion of Economic Impact in Sports Tourism Award recipient,” said Jason Siegel, CEO of the Greater Orlando Sports Commission. “Our community provided a significant grant to attract the World Finals to Camping World Stadium and we are so pleased that the event delivered such a wonderful return on the investment.”

Monster Jam World Finals will return to Orlando in May 2020.

All winners of awards have been recognized in a special feature published in the November/December 2019 issue of Sports Destination Management. The entire article with full details on the winners listed can also be found online.
