Orlando’s Camping World Stadium to Host Opening Match of 2022 MexTour on April 27 Against Guatemala

 NEW YORK CITY & MEXICO CITY (Thursday, March 3, 2022) – The 2022 MexTour, one of the top sports properties in North America, will kick off on Wednesday, April 27 at 8:00 p.m., when the Mexican National Team battles Guatemala at the newly-renovated Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Fl – a candidate city and venue to host 2026 FIFA World Cup matches.  The announcement was made today jointly by the Federación Mexicana de Fútbol (FMF), the City of Orlando, Greater Orlando Sports Commission, and Soccer United Marketing (SUM).

Tickets for the Orlando MexTour match will go on sale via www.MexTour.org on Tuesday, March 8th at 10 a.m. EST.

Information on additional MexTour matches will be announced at a later date.  Fans are encouraged to pre-register for future ticket information – and the opportunity to have first access to purchase limited ticket inventory – by visiting www.MexTour.org, the ultimate fan destination page with the latest information related to the tour, including the full schedule, on-sale dates, gameday guide and activities, public health and safety FAQs, events, and more.  Also, fans can visit the official Mexican National Team U.S. e-store, ShopMNT.com, featuring the latest team gear, including jerseys, official team merchandise and more. Information regarding ticket sales will be available closer to the events.

Located just minutes away from downtown Orlando, the 65,000-seat Camping World Stadium recently underwent $60 million in construction upgrades and enhancements which added an all-new premium Club Level and approximately 3,800 permanent seats on the north Plaza Level.  The stadium has a rich soccer history, having hosted matches during the 1994 FIFA World Cup, 1996 Summer Olympics and 2016 Copa America Centenario.  The MexTour returns to Orlando for the first time since 2015, where Mexico played Costa Rica to a 2-2 draw in front of nearly 55,000 fans.

A 2020 study by Equation Research identified 60 million fans of the Mexican National Team in the United States, making it one of the most followed sports teams in the country.
